Almost time for Shape//Matter!

Wow! Is this really our fourth year to perform at Shape // Matter? This has been an exciting event where we dance alongside other artists from the Southeast Michigan area, for Ann Arbor audiences that might not otherwise access our performances. It’s a great opportunity for us to share existing projects and to try out new ideas.
This year, Dance Uprising is performing “No Bonking,” which was developed during the month of January 2025 for National Choreography Month (NaChMo). The levity of “No Bonking” is a great contrast to the disappointment and depression many were feeling after the 2024 presidential elections. If I may share a nugget of personal information, it was also a welcome distraction for me after experiencing a traumatic death in my family on January 9. This piece is a ray of light that broke its way through a pretty heavy, dark cloud this winter; one small crack in a thick, dense, grief stricken winter.
