We seek to define partnering, understand what it means in a traditional sense, and find ways to subvert the status quo -- while building meaningful connection between performers and communities.
The movement concepts and ideas for “Human Connection” have been building for over 2 years within Dance Uprising’s body of work as well as in the bodies of the dancers themselves. The choreographic process for this work began in earnest in the spring of 2026. We utilize a movement form called Nontraditional Partnering, in which the roles of base and flyer are often interchangeable. Our choreographic process combines rigorous modern dance training with partnering and idiosyncratic movement development to create a totally unique piece.
