Dance Uprising seeks college interns for the duration of 1 semester, with opportunities for growth, including multi-semester internships, professional company positions, and theater technician roles for future productions.
Internship Pathways
1. Arts Administration Intern: This asynchronous role requires 5 hours per week, with tasks that include website updates, writing email copy, Canva designs for social media and other marketing tools.

2. Dance Apprentice Intern: This in-person role requires 5 hours per week in person, in which the Intern understudies Dance Uprising repertory, participates in rehearsals, takes notes, completes archival tasks (i.e. video, note-taking). Must be available during regular rehearsal hours (see below).

3. Stage Manager Intern: This in-person role requires approximately 20 hours in the month leading up to our spring performance, as well as approximately 25 hours during show week. Responsibilities include assisting lead technical designer, running the light board and sound cues, and any other tasks that support production in the theater.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate is

actively enrolled in a college or university

self-motivated, able to take direction, has good communication

interested and motivated to learn more about working with a professional dance company experienced with dance, theater tech, sound design, lighting design, or related field wants to pursue dance professionally
Season 25-26 Schedule (subject to change):

Fall 2025: September 8 - December 17, 2025

Internship Work flow:

Weekly check-in with Dance Uprising Admin

Identify tasks located in designated Google Drive folder

Track completed tasks in worksheet

Use Canva, Google Photos, Mail Chimp, and other digital tools as assigned

Present original work in December Artists’ Showcase and/or February NACHMO concert Learn behind the scenes functions of a professional dance company

Compensation:
Semester stipend: $600 to be paid in monthly installments of $150 for 4 months.
Internship will be ended early with no further compensation if attendance drops below 65% or work is deemed unsatisfactory for 4+ weeks. Interns will maintain timesheets with oversight from Dance Uprising.
